Our high school program is an extension of the grade school program and housed on the same campus. However, our secondary students are on a separate time schedule, use a different portion of the building, and have a separate teaching faculty. We teach the Ontario curriculum content and offer Ontario credit courses while maintaining a Christian perspective.
Our primary goal as a Christian school is to shape a Biblical worldview in our students that is founded on unwavering principles of truth. For that reason, rather than offering courses specific to a vocation, we offer courses in the following general categories of learning:
- the Arts
- Business Studies
- Canadian and World Studies
- English
- French as a Second Language
- Guidance and Career Education
- Health and Physical Education
- Mathematics
- Religious Studies (locally-developed)
- Science
- Social Studies and the Humanities
- Technological Studies
- Co-operative Education
We are presently permitted to grant Ontario credits toward the Ontario Secondary School Diploma, which is a privilege received by successfully meeting periodic inspections by the Ontario Ministry of Education. Secondary students at JCS are also provided with a variety of academic opportunities, including inter-school competitions, specialized field excursions, and a well-established co-operative program with many businesses and organizations in the larger community. In addition, our secondary students have access to personal laptops in class for various purposes such as note-taking, online research, and presentations.
